Q: Does Moral Fiber provide weapons? No. We never have and never will. Because (1) it would be illegal, and (2) our value-add is humanitarian and medical aid and vehicles. Sometimes our aid includes protective aid like helmets, and communications aid like satellite phones, but never any weapons or arms.
Q: I do not want to donate to an intermediary, or middle person. I want to donate to people directly delivering aid to Ukrainians with urgent needs on or near front lines. Is that Moral Fiber? Yes. Please see photos & videos here.
Q: How do I verify Moral Fiber’s NGO status? To verify an NGO, visit the Companies Registration Office of Ireland here (https://core.cro.ie/) and enter the Registration Number (for Moral Fiber, 714862). Reason for Ireland registration: Our Ukrainian founder Denys Grabchak is also a citizen of Ireland. In addition, inspect our Certificate of Incorporation and Constitution below.
Q: What about the central government? Aren't they delivering such supplies? Shouldn't I donate to them instead of you? Yes, Ukraine's central government is distributing as much equipment and aid to front lines as they can. They are doing amazing work. But it is hard, and the needs are immense. It is not either or. It is all hands on deck. One reason that Kyiv resisted Russia’s army in March: Ukraine empowers their military units, and pushes decision-making down. If the commander of a 30-soldier unit can obtain lacking lifesaving medical supplies through an NGO, he or she does it. We, and other similar NGOs, are relieving stress on more centralized government distribution, which currently must handle large weapons shipments. To donate to Ukraine’s government, visit u24.gov.ua. To learn more about the vital role that Ukrainian civil society and NGOs are playing, see the Economist here.
Q: What about larger NGOs like Red Cross? Aren’t they delivering such supplies? Shouldn’t I donate to them instead of you? It is not either or. It is all hands on deck. Larger NGOs are doing great work but cannot keep up with needs. Simply because Putin keeps attacking civilians on an industrial scale: flattening cities and villages, destroying infrastructure, and terrorizing a country of 40 million. Red Cross is doing amazing work, including rescuing civilians from Mariupol. Please do consider donating to them. But they are not super human, they do not have infinite capacity, they cannot scale up instantly, and they are not donating vehicles with medical aid to the front lines.
Q: Is the Moral Fiber team qualified? Yes. Please examine the team Linkedins and Facebooks. Half of us are Ukrainian, a third of us are military veterans, and many of us have backgrounds in supply chains, logistics, and small team operations.
Q: Why donate to Ukraine aid when there are so many other needs in the world? Please do consider donating to other causes, including organizations fighting world hunger and starvation. One consequence of Putin’s invasion is that it is worsening food shortages and starvation around the world, especially in Afghanistan. See here for ways to help. Whatever you do, please don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Inability to help all is not a reason to help none.
Nonetheless, we do think that donating to Ukraine aid now will have exceptional impact. Because we are in a pivotal period. If Ukrainians receive enough help now, both from governments, NGOs, and private citizens, they have a real chance at avoiding Russia’s army taking over and brutally occupying the entire East and Southern coast. Your donation will not only save lives, it will also increase the chances of a stable and lasting peace. And of a future where Ukraine is a free prospering country, with a coastline and a government reforming to achieve EU membership. Please let this dream inspire action.
